March Madness
Let the games begin
Yesterday was selection sunday and the brackets for this years Division 1 NCAA Championship were released. The team who I am favoriting will be the Duke Blue Devils because of their discipline. They have arguably the best college basketball coach who ever lived, and a lot of experience to carry them through the tough parts of games. With multiple different offensive weapons they should have no trouble scoring points. With the addition of tough defense I see Duke making some noise in this years tournament. Tune in tonight or tomorrow for the preliminary rounds, but the real action starts thursday.

Hoops for Heart
American Heart Association Presents Hoops for Heart
This cause is directed toward students to raise money for the American Heart association while having fun. First you have to make a username and register on the website. To raise donations you have to go around collecting money for how many free throws you can hit out of a certain number. This number is pre determined before you collect the donations. People donate a certain amount of money per made free throw. You collect the money after you shoot, and you can receive prizes based on the amount of money raised. This fundraiser is productive and worthwhile because of the different aspects it provides. For example it is an active fundraiser for kids to do, and awards them with prizes.Thursday, March 7, 2013
UNC vs. Duke
This saturday March 9th will be the return of the classic ACC rivalry. Duke and UNC square up in Chapel Hill for what always turns out to be a great game. Duke has the upperhand currently ranked #3 with a 26-4 record. As well the Blue devils have senior forward Ryan Kelly back from injury who has done nothing but suprise them. In Kelly's first game back he scored 36 points, and then followed it up with 18 the next day. Duke who has recently been upset by virginia, cannot take the tarheels easy as they are playing on their home court. UNC is not ranked, but proved themselves capable of beating Duke in their last game. Duke won by 5 at home.

Virginia Upsets Duke
Unrankned Virginia defeated the #3 Duke Blue Devils in a 73-68 victory. This win proves how wide open the tournament will be later this month. There have been many different upsets in the past few weeks that include Minnesota over the number one Indiana. Virginia was able to contest Duke all night with their shut down defense. With their home town fans on their side they were able to rack in 6 blocks, 3 steals, and 33 defensive boards. Virginia is currently undefeated at home this season. There was a combined 50 points from Seth Curry and Quinn Cook that provided most of Dukes points. Virginia is a promising team but has proven to be inconsistent through out the year. They have bad losses to Old Dominion, George Mason, and Delaware. On the other hand they also have some big wins such as Wisconsin, NC State, and now Duke. Virginia has potential to be a major bracket buster this month and make it deep into the tournament.
